About

I am a PhD Candidate in the Agricultural and Natural Resources Department at the University of California, Davis.

I am an energy economist and applied econometrician studying the integration of renewable generation and energy storage in restructured electricity markets. My work is motivated by the urgent need to decarbonize electricity generation to mitigate climate change and provide equitable access to affordable energy. My current research analyzes the impacts of electricity arbitrage enabled by batteries on generation, wholesale prices, and trade in the Western Energy Imbalance Market.

My dissertation examines the spatial extent of the impacts of lithium-ion batteries on solar curtailment in the California ISO market, informing policymakers on which locations for new storage investments provide the greatest returns to renewable production. I am also interested in estimating the carbon intensity of the electricity used to charge batteries to appropriately price their output in California's Cap-and-Trade market.
